On Sunday, we offered you the chance to contribute financially to the suffering in Texas. Episcopal Relief and Development does an amazing job on the ground, representing us and our church, and caring for those who have been affected by tragedies like these. They are consistent, helpful, and have years of experience doing this life-saving, emergency work. So, as we wait for news of Irma, I commend to you two very important things.
If you can, consider giving to ERD. 100% of the money donated goes directly to the folks who are suffering - and it's used well and wisely.
And most of all, commit yourself to praying for these folks. For the victims of Harvey, and for those who will suffer the wrath of Hurricane Irma. Hold them up in your prayers, and reach out to those who may be feeling scared and concerned during this time. Let your faith encourage you as you care for those around you. Know that God sits with us in pain, in sadness, and in suffering - that God never leaves us alone - and that God is always wanting to bring us back to a place of peace and light.
